Good Wednesday evening, everyone!
It's been a busy week around here; that's what I get for always being such an "Eleventh Hour" girl!
Last weekend was a busy one, as well;
I painted faces at Civil War Days in
Columbus-Belmont State Park in Columbus, Kentucky, about an hour away.
It's a beautiful park on the bluffs above the Mississippi, and I always look forward to it...
However, about midnight Saturday (after I had steadily painted from about noon until seven),
a storm blew in and we were afraid our little tent wouldn't make it through the night,
so we packed up and came home...
I had planned to take lots of photos on Sunday, and that didn't happen ~ still, I have a
few that I'll share later...
For now, here's what's going on in my little corner of the world...
~
First, I need to explain.
My husband likes to decorate.
He goes to Dollar General and brings home all sorts of things,
most of which I sneak into my donation boxes for the kitty sanctuary ~ Safe Harbor ~ later.
(They have a thrift shop.)
One of the things today was this witch.
Bless his heart.
But, I will leave it up, he was so pleased with it.
I just won't be able to find it next year...;^)
Now, there is nothing wrong with Dollar General, not at all.
I am thrilled that there is a new one about a half mile from our house,
so I don't have to make the ten-mile round trip to Wal-Mart on the other side of town...
(not nearly as often, anyway...)
...for laundry and cleaning supplies and milk and bread...
I even bought a cool black lace-spider web table cloth from the Halloween
section in there last week...
However, there are a lot of things in the decorating department that I would pass up.
Lots.
Not Nelson.
We even have a rubber dismembered hand and several eyeballs.
And some motion-activated ghosts that moan in one of my fig trees on the front porch.
This is what happens when I wait too long to decorate.
;^)
♥
This afternoon when passing through the kitchen, I saw Tallulah creeping very slowly
toward the front door, the hair on her tail and ruff standing out bottle-brush-style...
She had spied the witch...
~
~
She sat and stared and stared at it...
~
~
Later on I came back through, and she was still sitting there, staring at it...:)
Silly Lulah.
She's wondering about our delightfully tacky taste in witches.
(If you know Mr. B, don't tell on me...)
~
~
Here's what I'm working on for this coming weekend,
Vulture Fest in Makanda, Illinois.
A use for the little short heirloom okra pods!
~
~
My makeshift work-table...
~
~
And finally, a work-in-progress...
Tallulah the Witch, Cyrus the Pirate, and Leo the Wizard...
I'm hopefully going to get this done in time to "Zazzle" it into Halloween cards...(just pencil so far)...
I plan to use watercolor for the underpainting, and finish it with Prismacolor pencils ~
(Fingers crossed!)
Hope everyone has a great Thursday!
♥
