"If, of thy mortal goods, thou art bereft,
And from thy slender store two loaves
alone to thee are left,
Sell one and from the dole,
Buy Hyacinths to feed the soul."
- Muslihuddin Sadi,
13th Century Persian Poet
Aren't the colors of these hyacinths gorgeous? And the fragrance! Such a cool, ethereal scent...I could just bury my face in them!...(I'd probably get olfactory overload) ~ still, for the last two nights I've had this little bunch on my nightstand, so my ever-present fan could blow the scent over me...just heavenly! I thought they looked so pretty in my Mom's little thistle-patterned pressed glass creamer ~ in the top photo, my favorite transferware plate (Pomona, Elijah Jones; 1830s) is in the background, and in the second photo, a footed open vegetable dish (Cologne, John Alcock; 1850s).
The center image here is of an ACEO (little artworks that are trading-card size, 2 1/2" x 3 1/2") that I did a couple of years ago...the character is based on my tuxedo Angel Kitty, Artie (the original went to my sweet friend in Switzerland) it was done in watercolor and India ink.
Have a great Wednesday, everyone!
